The First Leg of the Journey

I really had no intention of posting anything about our trip until we returned, but I really don't want to forget this! I got up at five this morning and actually felt rested, after a full day of cleaning, finishing packing, and tying up loose ends at work. We all got ready and grabbed the last few things that were left to pack. All the bags closed, everything fit in the car, and both kids ate breakfast, dressed, and got in the car with smiles on their faces...ON TIME! This is next to impossible for just Jason and I. We got to the airport and went to unload our 8 bags, 1 carseat, 1 double stroller and 2 kids. There was a nice airline man who brought a cart, loaded our bags, and helped me get the kids inside while Jason parked the car. The lady at the ticket counter was so friendly and helpful as we checked in. The total process was under 10 minutes! Security was a breeze! The TSA lady informed me that I had packed everything perfect (thank you ziplock!) and all my items were the correct size. We sat down and waited to board, both children couldn't have been happier. We got on the plane with no difficulties and sat down. I was across the aisle with Madelyn, but had to switch seats with Jason because there aren't 3 oxygen masks on the side I was on. I was a little nervous to sit with both kiddos, but they both passed out before we took off and slept until we began our descent into Dallas. We got off the plane last (a good call by Jason) and got our luggage we had valeted, then we found a bathroom and all kids were changed. Andrew stayed dry the whole time and was thrilled to choose his own potty from the wide selection, was totally impressed by the automatic flush, and had his pick of sinks for handwashing. We found a great spot to park our stuff in terminal D with plenty of TV's and comfy chairs. We were able to sit down and eat lunch together and are now awaiting our departure to LAX. I know this is really only a minimal stop on our trip, but the fact that it has started this well makes me feel very happy! I wish I had the pictures to share!
