Weekend Wrap Up

This has been a very full weekend for us. Actually, a pretty full week! School ended for the summer and we have two weeks before our summer program starts. We had Water Day the last two days of school and Andrew really enjoyed it! Madelyn watched the big kids and modeled her bikini! We had a good Memorial weekend with friends and family and lots of swimming! My kids both love the water and I am anxiously awaiting our trip to the beach! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
Andrew and his class enjoying their popsicles
He was the first one in the pool and running through the sprinkler
He really loved the water guns that we got
Madelyn thought it was great fun and can't wait until she can run and play in the water!
We went swimming with the Hind's on Saturday. This was Madelyn's first time in the pool and she LOVED it!
Andrew, on the other hand, wasn't so thrilled about having to wear all of his floation gear!
Madelyn swimming with Daddy
Taking a break from the pool. She really wants Andrew's cookie!
Laying out is so much fun!
Saturday night we went to the promenade with a group of friends to listen to the band. The kids had a great time running around and the adults actually got to talk!
Andrew has been building lately. He will build out of pretty much anything he can get his hands on. This time he was building a "tree." If it is tall it is a tree, if it is on the ground laying next to each other, it is a road.
Sunday afternoon we went to tea for my great aunt Janis' birthday party. Madelyn had a great time with her great-great aunts, great aunt, great grandmother, Mimi, and of course me! She really enjoyed walking around the garden with her great-great uncle Mel. I spent many summers with my great aunt and uncle at their home in Memphis and I am so glad that Madelyn gets the opportunity to know them too!
More swimming for Miss Madelyn!
Andrew swimming with his Daddy
The bathing beauty! She has modeled all 3 swimsuits this weekend.
Andrew was filling up his lawnmower. He uses the watering can to fill it up!
Madelyn prefered to be in the water. She swam for about an hour and then took a two hour nap!
A sweet smile from a boy who loves ice-cream!
We also discovered that Madelyn likes ice-cream too! She would cry when the spoon would come out of her mouth until she got more!

6 Month Checkup and Ear Infections

Madelyn had her 6 month checkup on Friday. She weighs 14 lbs. and 13 ozs. I have a feeling that her next checkup she will be quite a bit bigger with the way she has been eating! Her head is a very normal 42 cm. I think that Andrew's head was that big at month 2! He's always off the charts with his big head- I'm sure he's just extra smart! She is 25 1/2 inches long. We also discovered that Madelyn has her first ear infection. I was really surprised, because she hadn't acted like anything was bothering her. She is on antibiotics and I'm supposed to take her back next week to recheck her ears. Funny story, I'm supposed to take them both in actually to get their ears rechecked (A had one last Monday) I made the appointment and wrote it down on my calendar for TODAY. I showed up and went to check in and they had no record of the appointment. I was about to get upset, when she informed me that the apppointment is in fact NEXT Tuesday. I'll have to say, that's the first time I've been early for something in a long time! I guess this can make up for my usual late pattern! Ha! Madelyn got both of her bottom teeth last Thursday and has been miserable ever since. Tylenol has become her good friend (but only once a day if she is really fussy). This is her after her appointment, she doesn't look like she's got an ear infection!
We went to Conway this weekend for a shower for one of my closest friends. We've known each other since elementary school and she is one of those people who you catch right up with immedetly, no matter how much time has passed. We drove down Saturday and had plenty of time for Andrew to check out all the tractors and go for a ride on the Rhino.
Deep concentration!

Andrew riding with his Daddy and his Great Grandfather, Don.
I turned my back for one minute and my mother was feeding Madelyn mashed potatoes from KFC. I was not pleased!
But, she loved them and wanted more and kept on grabbing for the spoon. So, I let her enjoy! What harm could that do anyway? Madelyn had a fabulous time at the shower on Sunday. She stayed for the whole two hours and everyone just loved her. She was so friendly and smiled and talked to everyone! We just passed her around! I actually got to help Lauren with her gifts and not worry about what she was doing (my mom was there to help out too). It was really nice! Andrew spent some quality time with his Grandad and Daddy riding the Mule around their neighborhood- until the rainstorm came. It was a good visit! It was so nice to get to see people that I hadn't seen in a long time.

Soccer, Mother's Day, Chocolate, Veggies, Dancing, and Madelyn is 6 Months Old!

Here are some updated pictures from the last few weeks. I am finally feeling better. It took almost two weeks to get over that fever virus and strep throat. I have not felt that bad from somthing other than pregnancy in a LONG time. I've also never had fever over 100 in my life and 103.8 is a painful temperature. I feel really sorry for all the little kiddos that have had this. There have been quite a few at school. Thankfully, Andrew and Madelyn have not gotten it. Andrew did get an upper respiratory virus over the weekend, but he is doing much better thanks to his breathing treatments and steriods! He has moved up in the world and is taking big boy medicine- the tablets that dissolve! He wants to wait and take it at school so he can show all his friends that he is a big boy- whatever gets him to take it! So, heres a little of what's been going on lately!
Andrew got a new soccer set for the backyard. Everyday we pass the soccer fields and see all the kids practicing and he wants to play. He says "I want to play soccer mommy." I feel sorry for him every time, so Mimi and Grandad got him his own set. He knows that he will get to play when he is three!

This year for Mother's Day I got a sewing machine and a ring with Madelyn's name on it. I have one with Andrew's, so I needed one to match. I am learning how to sew and made my first set of curtains! They turned out pretty good. I'll share pictures later- they are part of a much bigger project! Andrew and Madelyn made me cards at school. I love them! Andrew keeps bringing me his and saying "Here you go Mama, I made this for you." He is so proud of himself and tells me all about the stickers and the handprint!

Madelyn made this card for me! So sweet!

Jason went by Rick's Bakery and got me a tiny Mother's Day cake and some cupcakes. Andrew really enjoyed his! The boy takes after my sweet tooth!

Madelyn is eating fruits or veggies once a day and cereal twice a day. She gobbles it up a jar at a time! She has had sweet potatoes and bananas and seems to love them! She is also a very clean eater thus far. Andrew was always covered in food, but she doesn't really like it to get on her face. She will fuss until you wipe it off!

The other night we were watching Dancing With The Stars and Andrew decided that he would show off his dance moves!

I think he was doing a tribute to Michael Jackson with the white gloves (socks!)
After he finished he decided to take a rest in Madelyn's bouncy seat!

Sweet Madelyn is 6 months old today! She is still just the happiest girl and is sleeping all night! She loves going to school and has two friends in her class that she "talks" with. They really do sit and talk to each other! I can hear her in my office just carrying on with her little friends. It is precious! She got her first tooth yesterday! It's a bottom one and the other is beginning to poke through too! Tomorrow is her checkup and we'll have all her stats then.

After bathtime fun!
Andrew got mad because I wouldn't let him have the camera.

Evacuated to Conway

After coming down with the crazy "fever virus" and strep throat (I know of at least 10 people who have had it) I decided that either the children or I would have to be evacuated! Obviously, my parents choose the children over me. I didn't care, I just handed them over willingly with bags packed. They've had a great time in Conway and are supposed to be coming back to us tomorrow, although Andrew informed me that he was not coming back. I'm pretty sure that Madelyn's squeal I heard in the background was an "I want to come home" squeal! Here are some pictures from their visit.

It surprises me a little how he just lets her grab him...depending on his mood of course!

Truly the happiest baby ever!
This face just absolutely cracks me up!
and so does this one!

New Pictures!

Things have been busy around our house- I guess that isn't really a big shocker! Things always are busy! I've got strep throat, so I can't go to work and mom and dad took the kids to Conway so they wouldn't get sick. I've got time to share some updated pictures and actually rest for once!
We finally had to break down and buy a double stroller. I didn't think that I would like it, but it has been great! It is like pushing a large bus! They both passed out while walking the other night!
Andrew showing off his plants that he is growing in his class

Madelyn enjoying playtime at school. She has started rolling from front to back and back to front now! She lifts her whole body up when she rolls- it's funny!
Andrew enjoying his afternoon snack. He's always the last one up from his nap and sometimes has someone to snack with, but most of the time it's just him!
Filling up his cup with water- he's not supposed to do this, but he thinks it's fun!
Bathtime is still enjoyable at our house!
Madelyn especially enjoys it!
After her bath she passes out and is sleeping for 12 hours!!!!!!
Andrew's potty training is going well again! He really did decide that he would just go ahead and get potty trained the other day. He has actually earned several of his books and stickers! He is so proud of himself and we are so excited!
He is enjoying wearing hats lately. He pulls the bill down practically over his eyes and has to walk around with his head up in the air to see, but he will not pull it up!
Helping get Madelyn dressed. We took the kids to Razorfest a few weekends ago. They enjoyed it!
He loves to make Madelyn laugh!
Andrew was telling Madelyn everything she needs to know about Razorback football.
Madelyn is absorbing all the information!
Andrew made friends with everyone around us!
More bathtime fun!
Madelyn watches every move that Andrew makes!
Andrew gets on to Madelyn for splashing the water out of her tub, because he is not supposed to splash water out of his tub!
I am waiting on the day that they can get in the same tub together, because they think it's so funny! She just isn't quite ready yet.
Andrew doing some post-bathtime reading with his Daddy.

Andrew sticks his tounge out when he concentrates really hard- just like his dad does.A few more pictures of Andrew at school.

That's what's been going on around here. We're also doing several different home organization and renovation type projects. The big one that we're working on now is our laundry room. We installed a counter top above our washer and dryer over the weekend. There is still more to be done, due to my 103 fever Sunday and then the strep throat, we have kind of had to stop. We are getting new cabinets installed soon too! I'm also thinking of buying a sewing machine, because I've got several curtain projects that I want to do, plus I'd just like to see if I can remember how to sew. I am sure it can't be too difficult to remember! Any sewing machine advice would be useful!
