Back to School and Other Fun!

Well, Wednesday marked Andrew's 2nd first day at school and the beginning of my 5th year teaching kindergarten. The first days of kindergarten (ok, months) make me wonder "why did I choose this grade?" It progressively gets better, but gosh, I forget the amount of work that goes into starting the year! I have 12 boys and 6 girls in my class, so you can imagine what that's like! Andrew started back and had two good mornings of screaming for his mommy, but we've made it two days without tears and happy reports so all is well! Here is a picture of him on the first day of school.
He's not waving goodbye, he's wanting me to hold his hand. Jason has had to go with us for moral support (for me) because of all the tears. I'm blaming Madelyn- I used to be much stronger and could just go quickly, but not these days!
We had a fun day Saturday. We went to the Razorback Fan Day and saw our new friend Connor. Andrew is completely terrified of Boss Hog and Sue E. He LOVED Tusk. I just don't get it, he is totally afraid of "stuffed" animals, but would climb all over real ones! We also ordered his birthday cake. It is from Rick's (of course) and will have a vacuum going up the side of it, because Andrew LOVES vacuums! One of the little boys down the street had his 3rd birthday Saturday afternoon so we went to that. Andrew played on the slip and slide and ate a huge cupcake! After we cleaned him up we went and got him two new pairs of tennis shoes for school. He of course loved them and had to "model" them the rest of the evening. It seems like life gets really busy once school starts back! Here are some pics from our Saturday.
Andrew and Tusk. He liked petting him. I didn't realize how big that thing was. He's HUGE!

Having a great time!
I don't know what to think about you, Boss Hog!
Save me Mom!

Trying on his new tennis shoes. He wanted to put the other pair on over those. He ended up with one of each!

Now this is what I found today. I had gone to change clothes after work and I told Andrew we were going to cook dinner. I heard him move his chair over to the cabinet like he always does to help. I came in and he had opened up the pan of brownies, pulled one out, and started eating it. It was so funny!

Because I Haven't Said Much...

I am starting to feel guilty because I haven't said much at all about baby #2. Since Andrew is spending a few days (ok a week) with his grandparents as I start back to work and since his school doesn't start until Wednesday, this pregnancy has taken center stage since my boy is gone. I miss him like crazy. I didn't realize how much of my life is consumed by him! I can't wait for him to come back, but I've been really productive since he's not here. See, I'm doing it again- Andrew is just the star of my show these days! Ok, baby #2! Did I mention that she has a name? It's Madelyn Claire. We really like it and I am hoping that it will fit her as well as Andrew's name fits him. We've gotten her bedding. It's really cute! It's black and white print with big pink flowers and green vines on it. Her furniture is ordered and should be in when I reach 32 weeks- the same time A's furniture came it...I hope it's not a curse! For those of you who don't know, the day we got A's furniture was the day I went into early labor and delivered him! The big project right now is getting the current bedroom furniture out of her room. We're working to sale it on craigslist and we've had a few inquiries, but nothing has come of it. If you know anyone in the market for bedroom furniture at a bargain price let us know! As of the last few months I have been feeling great! I don't know if it's because I'm so excited that we're having a girl or what, but I'm glad to be feeling good. I started back to work this week and so far so good! Yea! I like getting back to work. I love the beginning of the school year and I'm hoping that I can make it further into this year. I have been diligently working on my long term sub plans so they will be ready to go- they weren't for Andrew and that was stressful. I'm hoping to be overprepared this time! I go to the doctor on Sept. 1 and he is going to start checking to make sure that I'm not dialating or anything like that. My job is just to be careful- no heavy lifting or strenuous activity (I'm really sad about that :)) and just sit down when I'm tired and not overdo it. So basically things are going good. I'm looking forward to having a girl to dress up. My friend Lindsey makes some really cute things for babies- tutus, onesies, bows, all kinds of stuff. I have a link to her site Kicks and Giggles. She just made an adorable Razorback outfit! I wish I could put it on Andrew for football season, but I don't think that he'd look so good in frilly red polka dot pants! I'll have to wait until next year for Madelyn I guess!

A Weekend of Firsts!

This weekend we had a lot of fun! On Thursday night we took Andrew to his first Naturals game. He really seemed to enjoy it. He liked pointing to the field and saying bat and ball. He was able to sit through 3 innings, but then he had to get up and run around. Thankfully there are a lot of places to run at the ballpark!
Enjoying the game! His tummy was really full from the enchilada, cheese dip, and salsa he ate before we went to the game. I'm so glad my child loves Mexican food!
Watching intently, but not the game, Strike the mascot. He watched strike walk around and dance for probably five minutes and then he looked at us and said "Ally". He decided that Strike must be a cat!

On Saturday afternoon we headed out to the lake with some friends from church. This was Andrew's first lake trip and Jason wanted to make sure that he enjoyed it. He was really nervous at first. He just held onto me and sat in my lap, but later he enjoyed getting in the lake and swimming around. He also liked watching people tube.
We stopped at a resturant on the lake to have dinner and Andrew found him a puppy friend. I was glad the puppy was nice about Andrew pulling his tail!
Andrew needed to be changed after our boat outing and I didn't want to go into the nasty public restroom, so I just changed him on the grass and let him run around in his diaper! He didn't seem to mind at all!

Fun With Friends!

Last Saturday we went over to Cody's house for pizza and to hang out with friends. It had been a while since we all got together so it was good to see everyone. The boys played bag-o in the backyard and the girls caught up and played with the kiddos. It was a fun time. Andrew, of course, found Cody's vacuum and vacuumed her house! He also brought his little vacuum too, but wasn't to glad to share it!
Kara, Maggi, Cody, Me, and Melanie
Andrew enjoyed feeding Annie sausage off his pizza. She would take a bite and he would laugh histarically!

Madison took charge of Andrew in the backyard so he wouldn't get in the way of the boys bag-o game! He loved holding her hand. He would grab for it so she'd walk him around the yard!

Before we left we got Andrew ready for bed, because we knew he'd go to sleep in the car. Maggi read Andrew's book to him and Madison and he thought it was so funny! I read the book to him all the time and never get the same response!
