Airport Delays Strike Again!

As most of you know, Jason and I have HORRIBLE luck when it comes to air travel. Our flights are always delayed, cancelled, or we miss them due to other delays, etc. This return trip was no exception! We arrived at the airport and got through security with our 8 bags (excluding the 3 we checked!) and two children and double stroller only to find out that our flight was delayed. The delay wasn't bad, but it was significant enough to cause us to miss our connection in Chicago. The flight was also overbooked (this overbooking business has never made sense to me) and so they were asking for people to move to a later flight in exchange for airline vouchers. Now, I love a free airline ticket, so I sent Jason to investigate. He explained our situation and they informed us that, yes, we would indeed miss our connection, but we would be put up in a hotel in Chicago, which, she said were not "high class" accomodations. She said our other option was to give up our seats and exchange them for the red-eye out of LAX tonight at 11:20 and we'd get to Chicago at 6:00am and leave at 8:00 for XNA arriving home at 10:00 am. This option would leave us with airline vouchers for 2 round trip tickets. I know the long hours in the airport seem pretty bad, but after 3 theme parks and numerous meltdowns from an unhappy two year old, I'm thinking about a vacation of my own! Selfish? Maybe, but Andrew is loving the airport and Madelyn is pleasant as she can be, so while both kiddos are napping, I'm planning my next vacay! I can pretty much guarantee that after a few days at home and my laundry is finished, the kids will be included on this trip too!
