For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
No Tubes Today
In my last post I mentioned that both the kids were set to get tubes today. Didn't happen. Neither of them are well enough to get them, but neither of them are sick enough to stay home- thank goodness! They have both been battling a nasty cough and runny nose. We're waiting until November 9 to do the surgeries. We've got several things coming up in the next couple of weeks and that seemed like the best time. It is the week of Madelyn's 1st birthday, but they assured me that she'll be feeling fine (I know that she will, because Andrew was fine after his tubes) and I'm hoping that Andrew will be a little calmer during her birthday party and not take over! They said with him getting his adenoids out too, it might slow him down for a couple of days. In the meantime, Madelyn has finished her antibiotics and is starting to pull on her ears...AGAIN! I'm really hoping that the tubes will help both of them to feel better. I am also going to tear out my carpet and put down wood floors (by I, I mean a flooring installer). I'm planning to do this in the living room, hallways, stairway, and upstairs playroom. I am sick of the carpet that we have. It never looks clean enough and we have terrible allergies, so I think this should help with that problem. My goal is to be able to make it at least one week without one or both kids needing to go to the doctor. We've gone every week since August. They always ask if my kids are in daycare and tell me that kids in that setting get sick more often and then give me this look of pity, because I don't stay home with my kids. I want to tell them that my kids are not in daycare, they are in PRESCHOOL! Yes, my 11 month old is in preschool. There is a difference. Plus, I direct the preschool and I'm there everyday and I know for a fact that it is VERY clean. Probably cleaner than my house! That's just a pet peeve of mine. I know they have to ask that question of everyone, kind of like how they have to ask if your child is exposed to any second hand smoke. I hate that question too, because I dispise second hand smoke! Why would I expose my kids to that? Oh, by the way, I do love our doctors! They do a great job with the kids and take excellent care of them. So, a couple more weeks to go until the big surgery day. I'm sure it will be here before we know it!
A Great Day For A Pie!
Today was quite the day. I woke up and heard this sound that I assumed was one of my cats that was locked up somewhere. It was not my cat. It was Madelyn. She was miserable. She was coughing, conjested, and her nose was running. She just couldn't get comfortable. She sat on the floor while I got dressed and just whimpered until she just laid down and gave up. I found out the other day at Andrew's 3 year check-up that he is anemic. I thought that was odd, because I'm anemic and it causes me not to have any energy and this kid has loads of it! He has to take iron- in liquid form- twice daily. I gave it to him last night and he did fine, just didn't like the taste. I gave it to him this morning and about 2 minutes later, he projectile vomited all over the bathroom floor! He looked at me and said, "that iron's gross momma. I spit it up." I had to change his clothes. I needed to mop too, but there wasn't time, so I just used towels to get it as best I could. I loaded the kids up, because I had some work to do and I thought maybe Madelyn would be alright until I could get her to the doctor. I called and the only open appointment was at 3:00...the same time that Andrew had his ENT appointment. I called Jason and said we'd just each take a kid, which one did he want. He chose to take Madelyn, because she is easier! About that time, Mrs. Betty, a wonderful lady from our church, came in and brought me a homemade coconut cream pie!! I LOVE coconut cream pie and Mrs. Betty's pie is the absolute best! I was thrilled that she thought of me! Here is a picture of her wonderful pie!
As soon as she left, Madelyn's teacher brought her to me and she had fever. I picked her up and she just buried her head in my chest and whimpered. I took her home and she slept for about 3 hours. Jason met me to get Madelyn and take her to the doctor and I took Andrew to the ENT. They did his hearing test and he did well, just a little off because he has a lot of pressure behind his ears. While we were waiting to see the doctor, Jason called and said that Madelyn has another ear infection and they referred her to the ENT. I told him just to bring her on up since we were already there. The doctor got and looked at Andrew. He needs tubes and his adenoids out. Then, he looked at Madelyn- she didn't look good! And said that we could just schedule her tubes the same time Andrew gets his and he'd get her in for her appointment this week. She is going in Wednesday, because she can't get tubes if she is conjested like she is. But, it looks like Friday we're getting two sets of tubes and one adenoidectomy! Like I said, it was a great day for pie!
Madelyn 11 Months
Miss Madelyn turned 11 months old on the 13th. I can't believe she is almost one year old! She is at such a fun age and has remained just as happy and sweet as she was when she was born. She is very, very active and loves to follow her brother around. She is vocal too. She has a lot to talk about! She is crawling everywhere, pulling up, and attempting to walk while pushing things. There are so many fun things that she does each day!

Jump Zone
Last Saturday we went to a birthday party for Andrew's friend Connor. They had it at Jump Zone. Andrew loves bouncy houses and was so excited to get a chance to play. As much fun as Andrew had, I'll have to say, Madelyn had more fun! She wanted to get in the bouncers so badly! She would pull herself up and try to climb in, but she just couldn't get there. I finally let her get in the small Sesame Street bouncer and she loved it! Andrew played with her and they just laughed and laughed! She is going to be a wild one!

His House Sunday
This past Sunday was His House Day at our church. It is a day where the preschool shows appreciation to the church for their support of the ministry and a chance for the church family to have a glimpse into the life of our preschool. I planned the majority of the worship service that day and I thought it went great! The kids sang three songs- This is the Day, He's got the Whole World in His Hands, and The B-I-B-L-E. They did an excellent job! I made a video about the school with information about our program and pictures of the kids. It turned out great. One of these days I'll figure out how to share it. I had to speak several times during the service and I've watched it a couple of times (because Andrew likes to see himself on TV) and I wasn't as terrible as I thought I was. I'm not good at preparing what to say before I say it, so I just wing it and hope for the best! Thankfully, it all made sense! Here are some pictures from our day.

10 Year Reunion
Last weekend we went to Conway for my 10 year reunion. I kind of can't believe that it's already been 10 years, but I've done so much that I know it has to have been that long! We were only able to go to the Friday night events, because I had to be back at church on Sunday for His House Day. We had a tailgate before the football game with BBQ. It was nice. Then, we went and got Andrew to take him to the football game with us. He had a great time and discovered what a Wampus Cat is! He is a little bit afriad of the Wampus Cat, I think it's because of the 6 legs! Not many people can say that their high school mascot was a 6 legged blue-black cat, but it is what it is and I love it! It was great to see a lot of people that I haven't seen in a really long time. There were so many friends that I just never get the chance to connect with, so this was a great opportunity. I look forward to the next 10 years! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Andrew wanted to be on the football field SO BAD! At one point he got his foot into the endzone, but I quickly grabbed him before he took off across the field!
Pumpkin Patch 2010
We made our annual trip to the McGarrah Farms Pumpkin Patch a couple of weekends ago. This year the Hinds joined us and we had a great time! We went earlier than we usually do and it was a great choice, because there were pumpkins everywhere! Andrew had a great time running around and looking at all the pumpkins and Madelyn was just as happy as she could be! The weather was perfect and it was just a really fun, fall afternoon!
Andrew wanted to have his picture taken with the scarecrow!
I've realized this is the one spot that we have a picture every year together for the last three years. It is rare that I am actually in a picture!
Madelyn was so excited about her pumpkin. Andrew picked that one out just for her and gave it to her. She just beamed!
